SIMPLICITY IN A COMPLICATED WORLD - Sunday April 19, 2009.

Matthew 11:29
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me(JESUS CHRIST), for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

Luke 18:9-14
9- "To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
10- "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11- The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.
12- I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
13- "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
14- "I(Jesus Christ) tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Matthew 5:3
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Luke 14:7,11
7- "When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable:
11- For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

James 4:6, 10
6- "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
10- "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."

Matthew 16:24
" Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."

Isaiah 66:2
"..."This is the one I(GOD) esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word."

Philippians 2:5-8
5- "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6- Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7- but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8- And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!"

CONCLUSION
THE HUMILITY IS A DISTINCTIVE AND SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE INSIDE THE CHRISTIAN VIRTUES. It IS HUMBLE WHO RESORTS TO GOD TO DEPEND ON HIM AND TO EXPECT HIM. THE HUMILITY IN A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST IS SAMPLE OF THE PRESENCE OF HIM IN OUR LIFE.
THE HUMILITY OF HEART IS THE BASE OF THE RELATION WITH GOD, OF THE SERVICE THAT WE PRESENT HIM, AND OF THE WORSHIP TO HIM.
THE PRIDE IS IT OPPOSED TO THE HUMILITY, FOR THIS WE SHOULD PRAY DAILY THAT DO NOT REIGN IN OUR LIFE THIS DESTRUCTIVE SIN.
